Abstract

The relevance of the regional approach to the representations of modern historical science is substantiated. This is due to the fact that the history of Ukrainian historiography is presented in the form of a complete, continuous and linear process, which leaves out the specifics of the development of historiographical regions. The purpose of the study was to identify the peculiarities of regional historiographical situations reflected on the pages of the «Ukrainian Historical Journal». Research methods. To realize the scientific goal, the basic regions representing the historiographic landscapes of the West, East, South, North, and Center of Ukraine were defined. Quantitative methods of calculation and comparison of basic parameters were used to identify their features. A complex of qualitative markers was identified, the combination of which is capable of creating a unique face of regional historiographic areas. Such markers include issues and chronology of publications, which made it possible to identify the priorities of each historiographical region. Presenting main material. 140 analytical texts of regional historians were found on the pages of the «Ukrainian Historical Journal». The problem-thematic, chronological, personnel parameters of each of the regions were analyzed. The hierarchy of their activity is established: Lviv historians – 55 centuries, Dnieper historians – 33, Kharkiv historians – 24, Chernihiv historians – 15, Odesa historians – 13. Scientific novelty. The method of analysis of regional historiography presented in professional periodicals has been developed and tested. Conclusion. The historiographical regions that represented themselves on the pages of a leading specialist publication demonstrate the complexity, originality and diversity of the phenomenon of Ukrainian historiography. The results of the research show that only Lviv historians presented their works from all problematic and chronological segments. Other regional centers, although in terms of coverage of problems, are almost not inferior to their Lviv colleagues, but in terms of chronological completeness, they have significant gaps. Research perspectives. The study of regional historiography is not limited to the results of the proposed methodology. The analysis of regional professional periodicals, historical and historiographical culture of the region, socio-political and spiritual-cultural contexts of local historiography, institutional parameters of historical science, monographic and dissertation products, communicative practices deserves special attention.
