Becoming of women’s secondary church education in Katerynoslavsky diogese in the second half of 60th – in the early of the 70th of XIX century

Abstract

The article deals with the formation of church secondary women’s education within Dnipro region territory during the 60’s – 70’s of the XIX-th century. The socio-cultural preconditions of the emergence of the Katerynoslav Women’s Eparchial Сollege are highlighted; the role of the bishop of Katerynoslav and Taganrog Platon in the institutionalization of the educational field of women’s education determined by the practical needs of the adaptation of the younger generation to the new social and economic realitiy of imperial life, caused by the reformations of the tsarist government in the 1860s and 1870s was observed. The peculiarities of formation of the teaching staff, services and technical workers of the secondary church women’s educational institution at the initial stage of its functioning are analyzed. The specifics of the organization of the educational process focused on the education of young girls in the line of spiritual values and the church tradition of Russian Orthodoxy are noted. The importance of congresses of the Orthodox clergy of the Katerynoslav Diocese in decision of urgent issues of financial and material support of the secondary school of women’s education; organization of systemic church control over the current agenda of the educational process and education of the students are considered. Particular attention was paid to the administrative activity of the college board of the educational institution, which directly managed the Women’s Eparchial College, determining the priority areas of its educational activity.
